OMG!!! I just registered for the Houston Half

I just couldn't wait. I had to commit!! I'm tired of waiting to see how it's going to go. I'm ready to say it's going to go fine. I WILL do this. I gotta get in the game. Besides, if something happens, the $$ will go to a good cause.

The only thing that really, really scares me (and motivates me) is the 12:48 pace required to have your time recorded. I guess that scares me now. Hopefully, the closer I get to October, the less scared I'll feel.

This is going to be fun!!

Congrats! I hope you do well! I'm still a long ways from being there so I applaud you :)

A 13-minute per mile pace is roughly 169 minutes or 2:49.

Did they take the time down from 4 hours this year?

Hey Vic,

Congratulations on your superb initiative. It's gonna be great! Before you crunch too many numbers and stress out too much, you might want to go to the race web site and check out the historical results.

Well, Jon, unless I'm reading it incorrectly, it states that times will be recorded until 2:48. The course will be open for 3 hours. After that, it's over to the sidewalk.

Steeeve, I'm not sweating it. I'm ambitious and determined. I see from the results that there were several times recorded in my age group > 3 hours. You're right. Why in the world crunch numbers now and start worrying. I'm just going to enjoy training and Katy Fit and HRB and Houston Striders. It's going to be a blast!!!

Vic must've registered for the Koala/Luke's Half, which has the 3 hour open course limit.

Houston's Aramco is still 4 hours.

Keep pluggin away at it, Vic. If you REALLY want to see how you're doing, run the Huntsville Half on October 21. That course has a hill you do twice that's taller than all the hills on the Koala course put together.

Jon can vouch for that.
